Expansion of the New Landfill Complex in Pančevo – second phase
Overview
The total area of the site, or rather the landfill complex, is 34 ha 14 ai 04 m 2 . The landfill body is being built in several phases, whereby at the end of construction its total area will be 20.2 ha, with a capacity of 2,059,715. m 3 of compact waste and cover. The facility has a waste treatment plant (secondary separation) with a calculated capacity of 15 t/h.

Location and surroundings
The land on cadastral plot number 12709/2 CM Pančevo is designated for the construction and expansion of the New Landfill complex. It is located 10.8 km northeast of the urban settlement of Pančevo and 6.8 km from the settlement of Dolovo. The agricultural farm "Stari Tamiš" is 2 km from the location of the complex, while the nearest residential buildings are 3 km away. There are no buildings or institutions in the immediate and distant vicinity, such as hospitals, schools, kindergartens and water supply sources, on which the landfill could have a negative impact.
Objectives and planned activities
The project aims to increase waste disposal capacity, enhance the treatment of solid waste prior to its disposal, and ensure the leachate from the landfill is treated according to the regulations before being discharged into the recipient. Additionally, the project also aims to improve the monitoring system, organization, and efficiency of the complex's operations.
The design covers:
• Construction of two new sanitary cassettes (S1 and S2), each with a volume of 300,000 m³, for waste disposal in the coming period.
• Improvement of the treatment system for the leachate to be safely discharged into the natural recipient - the "Tamiš 3" canal.
• Upgrading of existing facilities and plants for electricity and water supply, and roads to new facilities.
Infrastructure and equipment
for the new complex
The project includes the following contents:
• Facility for waste treatment (secondary separation) with a capacity of 15 t/h, with all necessary installations and equipment..
• New plant for the treatment of leachate and other wastewater from new and existing cassettes, including a grease and oil separator for atmospheric and manipulative water..
• Collectors and pipe connections to connect the new facilities with the existing lagoons and the leachate treatment plant.
• Installations and equipment for the collection and evacuation of landfill gases during the disposal phase. .
• Roads within the complex, with access to new facilities and the space around them.
• Necessary installations for electricity, water, telephones, remote control and monitoring.
• Protection system against birds and animals around the complex.
