Reconstruction and
extension design

The design of reconstruction and extension of the complex on plot no. 52 and no. 53 in Novi Sad, transforms this space into a modern Museum of the 20th and 21st centuries. The main buildings: Studio M, the RTV building and its annex, are significant examples of modern architecture from the first half of the 20th century, while the building Dom novosadske trgovacke omladine, designed in 1931 by Đorđe Tabaković, is an important architectural work of the modern era. Located on the corner of Mihajla Pupin Boulevard and Ignjata Pavlasa Street, the building is part of the cultural and historical core of Novi Sad.

Inženjerski izazovi i rešenja

61.923,99 m2.

26,791.94 m² nadzemnog prostora, i 35,132.05 m² podzemnog prostora.

Architectural significance
and history

Studio M, designed in 1958 by Pavel Žilnik, is a unique architectural work comprising a concert hall and a recording studio. The RTV building and its annex, although without pronounced stylistic features, contribute to the urban development and functionally close the block. building Dom novosadske trgovacke omladine was built with the original purpose of educating young merchants, but over the decades it has changed its purpose. After the Second World War, the fourth floor was added, while the ground floor housed pharmacies and business premises. Its facade, with a recognizable inscription, is a symbol of the modernist approach.

Urban layout

The plot is situated in the heart of Novi Sad, near the Old Town district. This location holds considerable cultural and sociological significance. The buildings are arranged along the street, featuring a spacious plateau in front of Studio M, while the inner courtyard offers technical access. This building is an integral part of the memory and cultural identity of the people of Novi Sad.

Reconstruction and
functional adjustment

The reconstruction keeps the authenticity of Studio M, while the RTV building and its annex have been significantly modified for the museum's needs. New emergency routes, elevators and access ramps have been added, ensuring inclusivity and functionality according to modern standards. The aim of the reconstruction of the building Dom novosadske trgovacke omladine is to preserve the architectural authenticity while adapting it to modern standards. Internal adaptations have been made and they include the conversion of space into office and administrative space, with the addition of new sanitary facilities and the improvement of energy efficiency. Special emphasis is placed onthe preservation of the historial aspect of the facade.

Spatial and
functional zones

Unit 2: The RTV building and its annex have been transformed into exhibition spaces with accompanying contents for visitors and employees. Unit 3: the building Dom novosadske trgovacke omladine was transformed into an office and administrative space.
