Solution to the water scarcity
in the eastern Srem region
The Regional Water Supply System (RWS) "East Srem" is a key infrastructure project that will ensure sustainable and reliable water supply for five municipalities: Ruma, Irig, Inđija, Stara Pazova and Pećince. The project aims to address the water supply deficit caused by the gap between available local water sources and increasing regional needs. The RWS "East Srem" includes a number of infrastructure facilities, including pipelines, reservoirs and metering and regulation blocks, that enable the connection of existing and new water supply systems, as well as the supply of settlements without access to the water supply system.
Strategic importance for the development of the region
The project is designed to fulfil water needs until 2050. The Hrtkovačka draga water source, with a capacity of 800 l/s, ensures a reliable and high-quality supply of drinking water. This system allows not only to meet current needs but also to support future growth and development of the region. In addition to connecting public enterprises and businesses, the project also includes supplying rural settlements that currently do not have an organized water supply system. In this way, it contributes to improving the quality of life and increasing economic activity.
Sustainable development
and touristic potential
Special attention is paid to sustainability, which includes bio corridors and measures to reduce exhaust gas emissions. The touristic importance of this project is reflected in easier access to landmarks such as the Golubac Fortress and the Đerdap National Park, while its economic contribution is visible through the facilitation of the transport of goods and the stimulation of local development.
Design based on
analyses and plans
The planning of the RVS "Eastern Srem" is based on detailed analyses of current capacities, assessment of future needs and harmonization with the regional spatial plan of the AP Vojvodina. The goal is to optimize capacities and support the demographic and economic development of Eastern Srem. The main investment objectives include ensuring sufficient water for all households and commercial users, improving infrastructure and creating a basis for the long-term development of the region. This project represents a key step towards sustainable development and improving the quality of life of all residents.
